Beliefs

Here’s a concise description of the Christian faith which governs and guides our church. We believe…

The Bible

…in the full inspiration of the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, as originally given by God.  The Bible is the word of God, fully reliable in fact and for teaching and the final authority for the Church.

God

…that there is one true and living God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  God is the Creator of all life who sustains and governs all things according to His sovereign will.

The Lord Jesus Christ

…that Jesus came to earth as God’s son.   His virgin birth, His sinless life, the reliability of His miracles, the authority of His teachings, His sufferings and atoning death (i.e. His death on the cross was sacrificial, bearing God’s punishment in place of us), His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven and His priestly intercession for His people.

The Holy Spirit

…in the personality and divinity of the Holy Spirit, sent from heaven to glorify Christ.  The Holy Spirit convicts sinners, imparts spiritual life and gives a true understanding of the Scriptures.  The Holy Spirit empowers all believers for worship, service and ministry.

Humanity’s fall, and salvation through Jesus Christ

…that mankind was originally created sinless but tempted by Satan, man fell from God’s presence and thereby brought the whole human race under the judgement of God.    Individuals are ‘saved’ only through repentance (seeking forgiveness and change) and faith (trusting in Jesus as your saviour).

Baptism and The Lord’s Supper

whatwebelieve

…Believer’s baptism is symbolic and does not impart spiritual life.  However; it is the required testimony of faith.  The Lord’s Supper (Communion) commemorates Christ’s sacrifice offered once and for all and like baptism, is provided by God for our good.

The Church

…that the universal church is the body of which Jesus Christ is the Head, to which all true believers through the ages belong.

The Future

…in the personal and bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ to accomplish our salvation and establish His glorious kingdom.  He will raise the dead and judge the world in righteousness with eternal joy for those who have been saved and final punishment for those who remain condemned.
